Job Description

Help the Public and Greenspace teams keep the city looking good through efficient system management.


  • Develop and oversee safety and risk management systems with the Operations Co-ordinator and Manager. Manage health and safety documents, schedule risk assessments, and research relevant topics.
  • Analyse data for insights into cleansing, litter control, and grounds maintenance performance. Advise the Operations Manager on meeting service needs.
  • Coordinate training for identified risks, changing laws, and Growth and Development interviews. Manage internal and external training.
  • Efficiently handle materials for better performance and storage, considering seasonal changes. Maintain a stock control system, especially for hazardous materials.
  • Collaborate with health and safety officers and external bodies to expand risk management knowledge.
  • Identify compliance issues, evaluate processes, and make recommendations to the Operations Manager.
  • Establish a compliance communication system to improve staff understanding.
  • Assist Team Leaders in managing Personal Protective Equipment with health and safety officers.
  • Implement e-data collection, including absence management and equipment checks.
  • Advise the Operations Manager on resource needs to meet service standards.
  • Provide support to operations within the Public Realm service as required.
  • Perform other relevant duties as needed.

Person Specification:

Qualifications & Knowledge:

  • Essential: Good general education to A level or equivalent.
  • Desirable: HNC or equivalent in Systems Management, Compliance, or Logistics
  • Desirable: Recognised Health and Safety qualification or studying towards it
  • Desirable: Recognised Systems Management, Compliance, or Logistics qualification or studying towards it.

Essential Experience & Skills:

  • Experience in achieving sustainable results systematically
  • Ability to identify, analyse, and communicate effective solutions
  • Experience in risk-based health and safety assessments
  • Problem-solving in a high-pressure service environment
  • Working with complex logistics
  • Teamwork across diverse disciplines
  • Understanding of systems thinking
