We are currently looking for an experienced Grounds Maintenance Supervisor/Team Leader to join our client in the North Devon area. This role entails various responsibilities and requires a candidate with proven experience in commercial grounds maintenance or a similar leadership position. The ideal candidate will demonstrate integrity, reliability, and a strong work ethic.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead a team of grounds maintenance personnel, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
- Cut commercial planting and hedging to a high standard.
- Coordinate daily schedules and assign tasks to team members.
- Conduct regular inspections of grounds and equipment to ensure safety standards are met and maintained.
- Drive the company van to various job sites, ensuring timely arrival and completion of tasks.
- Communicate effectively with clients and management regarding project progress and any issues that may arise.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Please note that these duties can vary depending on the specific requirements of the project.
Person Specification
- Previous experience in commercial grounds maintenance or a similar leadership role.
- Must have horticultural knowledge and experience.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Have a positive attitude and willingness to work collaboratively with team members.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early starts and occasional overtime.
- Reliable and honest with a commitment to delivering quality work.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour as required.
Qualifications and Certification
- In the absence of formal qualifications previous experience will be considered
- Clear Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
- Must have Driving Licence as a company van will be provided, ideally with a trailer licence.
Additional Information
Type of Employment: Permanent, Full Time
Working Hours:
- Monday to Friday: 9 hours a day (March to October)
- Monday to Thursday: 8 hours a day (November to February)
- Flexibility required for early starts and occasional overtime.
Location: North Devon
Remuneration: up to £30k p/a
