As a Public and Green Space Operator, your primary responsibility is to provide cleansing and grounds maintenance services to keep our city looking its best.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform various grounds maintenance tasks, including grass cutting, hedge trimming, shrub bed maintenance (pruning), and weed spraying. Utilise equipment for graffiti removal, mechanical sweeping, and maintaining outdoor sports facilities. Address litter removal, bin emptying, and public toilet cleaning.
- Report day-to-day issues and significant problems to the Public and Green Space Team Leader.
- Report issues affecting public spaces’ appearance, such as damaged streetscape and littering.
- Assist the public and businesses with inquiries and complaints.
- Participate in safety training and maintain high performance standards.
- Contribute to improvement initiatives and utilise IT solutions for efficient work. Maintain basic records and be flexible with working hours.
- Collaborate with other Public Realm services and perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications and Knowledge:

Essential:
- General education to GCSE standard in two suitable subjects (Maths and English preferred).
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and requirements.
- Possession of a valid driving license.
- Understanding of legislation enforcement.
- Evidence of training in areas such as weed spraying or the use of mechanical equipment.
- Experience in operating cleansing or grounds maintenance equipment.
- Experience in implementing and maintaining safe systems of work.
- Willingness to work outside of regular working hours when necessary.
